Word of The Day – The Call to Discipleship

Discipleship is the process of following Jesus and becoming more like Him. It involves learning from Him, obeying His commands, and sharing His love with others.

Matthew 28:19-20

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Today’s reading from the Gospel of Matthew reminds us of the call to discipleship. Jesus’ words to His disciples in the Great Commission are as relevant to us today as they were over two thousand years ago. Jesus commands us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” This is a call to action, a call to share the Good News of salvation with others and to help them grow in their relationship with God. As followers of Christ, we are called to be disciples and to make disciples. This involves not only sharing the Gospel with others but also living out our faith in our daily lives. We are called to be examples of Christ’s love, compassion, and grace in the world, demonstrating the transformative power of the Gospel in our own lives. The call to discipleship is not always easy, and it may involve sacrifice and discomfort. But we can take heart in Jesus’ promise that “surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” We are never alone in our mission to make disciples, and we can trust that God will provide us with the strength and resources we need to fulfill His call. So let us go forth today, inspired by the words of Jesus in the Great Commission. Let us be faithful disciples who make disciples, sharing the love and message of Christ with all those we encounter. May God bless us and guide us on this journey of discipleship, and may we be a blessing to others in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
