Equity
“After God created the sun, the moon, and the stars, and rounded the earth in the middle of His hands, He said, ‘I’m still lonely.’ He thought and thought and decided, ‘I will make me a man.'” (James W. Johnson) This man today is called mankind, created in the image and likeness of God, all equal in His sight. There is no black, no white, no green, no yellow, no red – just us!
A major cause of poverty today is inequality. In 1960, 35 million people were living in poverty. Fast forward to the year 2000 and the numbers doubled. There is no simple process for achieving the goal of reducing inequality, but it is not an impossible task. Inequality exists in gender, ethnicity, health, wealth, age, and money, among other areas, and solutions are needed.
